Ukraine's Deputy Agriculture Minister Markyan Dmitrasevich said that his country may reap 60 million tons of grain and oilseeds this year, compared to 106 million last year, due to Russia's invasion.

Ukraine has exported only 4 million tons of grain and oilseeds since the start of the war in late February and closed Ukrainian ports, "Bloomberg" News Agency quoted Dmitrasevich as saying in a TV interview on Sunday.

Earlier, Borrell said that the Russian military attack on Ukraine "threatens to trigger a global wave of hunger."

He stressed that EU sanctions had "never targeted" the export of Russian agricultural products.

Moreover, Borrell expressed the bloc's readiness to work with the United Nations (UN) and its partners to stop the impact on global food security.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Minister of Agriculture, Mykola Solskyi, said on Wednesday that two million tons of wheat could be exported by the end of the current season.

Earlier, Solskyi expected a large harvest this year, hoping that his country would be able to export grain.

In press statements, he warned that the continuation of the war would mean higher prices for all countries.

The Ukrainian minister added that the situation is “difficult” with regard to fuel, which is needed for the spring fields.

It is worth mentioning that the Russian-Ukrainian war has entered its third month as thousands of soldiers from both sides have been killed and millions have been displaced from the Ukrainian side since the start of Russian operations in Ukrainian territory on February 24.

Several countries have imposed significant economic sanctions on Moscow, while Russia has responded by imposing personal sanctions on a number of American and Canadian leaders.
