AC Milan and Inter have officially announced the purchase of the San Siro district from the Municipality of Milan, in a historic move that paves the way for constructing a new world-class stadium on the site of the iconic Giuseppe Meazza.
In a joint statement, the two clubs said that AC Milan and Inter announce today the signing of the sale agreement with the Municipality of Milan to acquire the ‘Greater San Siro Urban Area,’ including the stadium and the surrounding facilities.
The construction of the new stadium, along with the wider urban redevelopment of the San Siro area, marks a new chapter for both clubs and for the city of Milan itself.
The deal is valued at approximately €200 million (around $235 million) and covers an area of 28 hectares, which includes the stadium grounds, surrounding spaces, service facilities, and parking areas.
The project also signals a renewed phase of collaboration between Milan’s ownership group RedBird and Inter’s ownership Oaktree, both aiming to achieve sustainable sporting and financial growth while strengthening Milan’s status as a global capital of football.
