Norway announced on Wednesday that it would give three multiple-launch rocket systems to Ukraine, following the lead of similar announcements from the United States, Germany, and Britain.

Kyiv has frequently requested more heavy weaponry from its partners as its forces struggle to defend the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine.

The fight for freedom and independence in Ukraine must continue, according to Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram, who made the comment in a press release.

Together with Britain, we'll supply the multiple launch rocket system, which has a greater range and greater accuracy than Russia's artillery. Norway said.

“Our guns require extensive upgrading, therefore we have agreed with the British that they receive Norwegian guns so that they can send some of theirs to Ukraine,” the minister said, hailing “good cooperation between allies.”

In addition to the 5,000 already provided to Ukraine, Norway will also send an extra 5,000 grenades.

As part of a $700 million military aid deal, the US declared on June 1 that it will supply four M142 HIMARS multiple-launch rocket systems to Ukraine.

Germany and Britain have also each promised to supply three MLRS systems to Ukraine.
