On Wednesday, the leaders of Norway, Ireland, and Spain said that they would recognize Palestine as a state. The latest move is a victory for the Palestinians who fight for their historical rights in their historical lands.
In an official statement released on the official website of the Norwegian government: "The Norwegian Government has decided that Norway will recognize Palestine as a state. In the midst of a war, with tens of thousands killed and injured, we must keep alive the only alternative that offers a political solution for Israelis and Palestinians alike: Two states, living side by side, in peace and security."
The statement added: "Norway’s long-term engagement has supported and sought to advance the two-state solution. Recognition of Palestine as a state further highlights the long-held Norwegian position that a lasting solution to the conflict in the Middle East is only achieved through a two-state solution."
