Despite suffering a 2-1 extra-time defeat to England in the last eight, the Norwegian squad returned home on Monday to a festive reception that featured a water cannon salute, an open-top bus parade, and a royal reception at the Royal Palace.

King Harald, Crown Prince Haakon, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, and Prince Sverre Magnus welcomed the players, with Crown Prince Haakon praising the squad for making the nation proud after inviting them to the palace immediately following their World Cup exit.

The celebrations culminated in Norway's famous "Viking Row" chant, led by Crown Prince Haakon as tens of thousands of supporters joined in.
