On Thursday, Norway's parliament adopted a new resolution that called the government to be ready to recognize an "independent" Palestinian state.
The proposal was made by Norway's ruling coalition to support a resolution by smaller parliamentary forces calling for an immediate recognition of a Palestinian state.
The proposal passed with a majority, and it said the assembly "asks the government to be ready to recognise Palestine as an independent state when recognition could have a positive impact on the peace process, without making a final peace accord a condition."
Iceland, Sweden, Poland, Czech Republic and Romania are among the countries that made legal recognition of a Palestinian state.
Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez informed parliament that he would "work" towards recognition of Palestine by his country and by Europe.
