Norway sealed their place in the Round of 32 at the FIFA World Cup 2026 after a dramatic 3–2 victory over Senegal in a high-intensity clash at MetLife Stadium in the United States.
The result confirmed Norway’s qualification from the group stage, as they moved onto six points alongside group leaders France, trailing only on goal difference.
The match showcased Norway’s attacking strength, with key contributions from Erling Haaland, who once again proved decisive in front of goal.

Norway took the lead just before halftime through a defensive error capitalised on by Hegham, before Haaland doubled the advantage early in the second half.
Although Senegal responded through Ismaïla Sarr, Haaland struck again shortly after to restore Norway’s control of the match. A late goal from Sarr added tension, but Norway held firm to secure the win.
Following the final whistle, Norwegian players celebrated in striking fashion, performing a Viking-inspired “rowing” gesture in front of their supporters.
The celebration reflected both their national identity and their return to prominence on the world stage, as fans joined in the symbolic display of unity and strength.
Senegal, despite the defeat, showed resilience and attacking quality, but remain without points and face a difficult path in their remaining group matches.
