North Korea fired a ballistic missile toward the sea off its east coast on Thursday, South Korean and Japanese militaries said.

The launch is North Korea’s 16 known weapons test in 2020. The Asian country had launched a short-range ballistic missile on May 7; it is presumed that a submarine launched it.
Pyongyang did not officially announce the launch and did not provide an explanation for the type of the missile. Another ballistic missile was launched on May 4.
