Defending champions Cameroon were knocked out of the African Cup of Nations by Nigeria in a phenomenal 3-2 goal fest, reaching the quarter finals.

Goals from Stephane Bahoken and Clinton Njie helped the Lions rebound 2-1 at half-time after Odion Ighalo had put Nigeria ahead in Alexandria, Egypt.

The Eagles' two goals in three minutes swung the game back in Nigeria's favour and set up a quarter-final with the winner of the Egypt -South Africa clash later on today.

The match could be considered as the greatest match in this year's tournament to date. Both teams displayed great attacking skills early on with Nigeria being the aggressor until they scored the opening goal in the 18th minute when Odion Ighalo made use of a series of deflections firing the ball into the goal of the Lions.

The Lions then made their roars heard scoring the equalizer in the 41st minute when Stephan Bahoken placed the goal into the nets of Nigeria making the best out of a beautiful cross.

Cameroon enforced their lead 3 minutes later after Clinton Njie dribbled past the Nigerian defender before firing the goal into the net of the Eagles.

Although Cameroon had the upper hand in attacking efficiency in the second half, Nigeria shocked the defending champions though a swift goal by Ighalo in 63rd minute, before a defensive mistake gave the Eagles the win after Iwobi scored the winning goal.
