Midfielder Nico Paz was taken to the hospital for medical checks after suffering a concerning head injury during Como 1907’s 2-0 win over Genoa CFC in Serie A.

The Argentine international was involved in a heavy collision with Genoa defender Alessandro Marcandalli during the first half at Luigi Ferraris Stadium. Following the impact, Paz experienced troubling vision issues and reported difficulty seeing out of one eye while on the touchline.

As a precaution, head coach Cesc Fabregas decided to substitute him at halftime, with Maxence Caqueret coming on in his place. Paz was then immediately transported to a local hospital for thorough examinations.

After the match, Fabregas confirmed that the substitution was made to protect the player, noting that he had been under close medical observation due to his vision problems following the collision.

Subsequent reports indicated that medical tests showed no serious injury or lasting damage. Paz was discharged from the hospital and rejoined the team, providing reassurance to the club and its supporters.

The 21-year-old has been one of Como’s standout performers this season, recording 13 goals and 8 assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, emerging as one of the rising talents in Italian football.

He is expected to follow concussion protocols before returning to training, while Real Madrid CF continue to monitor his progress closely, as they hold a buyback clause in his contract.
