Newly-Elected MP Aboul Enein Takes Oath Before Parliament

Egyptian prominent businessman and deputy head of Nations’ Future Party Mohamed Aboul Enein has officially been sworn-in as a member of parliament in a plenary session held on Sunday.

During his speech, Aboul Enein thanked the Parliament Speaker Dr. Ali Abdel Aal and  took his oath with the word "I swear by God to protect the republican system, to respect the constitution and the law, to safeguard the people's interests, and to preserve the independence of the nation and the unity of its lands."

Chancellor Lasheen Ibrahim, Head of the National Elections Authority (NEA) announced the victory of  Aboul Enein in the parliamentary by-elections for the Giza district with a wide range of votes.

Ibrahim announced that Aboul Enein received 36,213 votes.

The other competitors including, Hisham Badawi got 6,911 votes, while Al-Amir Mousa Ahmed obtained 272 votes, and Magdy El Sayed El-Sayed Yassin got 273 votes.

The voting process in the by-elections for Giza and Mallawi districts took place in a calm and peaceful manner, and the NEA did not receive any complaints that affected the electoral process.

Noteworthy, the number of the candidates in the parliamentary by-election reached 12 candidates, including 4 candidates in the Giza district, and 8 others in Mallawi.

The final list of the Giza district also includes Hisham Mohamed Badawy Sayed, who adopted the Lion Symbol, Al-Amir Moussa Ahmed Ali Mohamed, who adopted the Horse Symbol, and Magdy El Sayed El-Sayed Yassin Mahmoud, who adopted the palm of the hand symbol.

Here is a brief introduction on Aboul Enein’s previous parliamentary experience:

The chairman of Cleopatra Group began his political activity since 1984, with a strong will to spur wheel of change and development.

In 1995, he was appointed as a member of the People’s Assembly. Then he was elected for office in 2000, 2005 and 2010 elections.

He was elected as the Chairman of the Committee on Housing, Public Utilities and Construction (2000 – 2005), then the Chairman of the Committee on Industry and Energy (2005-2011).

As a member of Parliament, the Chairman of Industry and Energy Committee and the Chairman of Housing, Public Utilities and Reconstruction Committee, Aboul Enein was keen to perform his legislative and supervisory role with impartiality and integrity, putting the general interest above any other consideration.
