The Tunisian singer was born on September 16, 1966. She started performing at school and was supported by her father, an enthusiasm that her mother didn't share. However, her mother began to support her as did all eight siblings following his death.
Later on, she traveled to Syria to learn the origins of singing and music. Zekra began her music career in 1980 through her participation in talent show competitions.
She competed that year in the program "Fan Wa Mawahib" and won its grand prize.
In 1983, Zekra recorded her first song "Ya Hawaya" followed by giving her first concert at the Carthage Festival.
On November 28, 2003, the singer was shot and killed in a homicide with 20 bullets discovered in her body.
She was murdered alongside her secretary, assistant, and husband. It is still unclear who organized the attack and with what motive.
