New Zealand secured their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating New Caledonia.
New Zealand won 3-0 against New Caledonia in the final of the Oceania qualifying playoffs for the World Cup, held this morning, Monday.
This marks New Zealand’s third World Cup qualification in their history, following the 1982 and 2010 editions.
They have secured a spot in the 2026 finals, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
New Zealand join Japan as the first team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, with Japan securing their spot after defeating Bahrain 2-0 in a match held at Saitama Stadium, as part of the seventh round of the Asian World Cup qualifiers.
