On Friday, New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern received the first shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, Reuters reported.

She took the first shot in the Manurewa Vaccination Centre in Auckland and she looked very excited and interested in receiving it.

The Prime Minister posted on her Facebook page: "Today (just like 567,188 other kiwis!) I received my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. I popped along to the Manurewa Vaccination Centre in Auckland, who have an amazing team."

She was questioned by one of the audience why she wasn't listed on the early vaccinated people list. Ardern justified: "It’s a fair question. I chose not to be vaccinated at the beginning of our roll out because our workers who face the risk of getting COVID needed to be our priority. But I’m also mindful that I need to show how much I believe in the vaccine - in its safety, effectiveness and the difference it will make to New Zealand."

The official highlighted that the state started a nationwide vaccination campaign for people who are above 60, in addition, more than 300,000 were fully vaccinated until now.
