New Zealand had previously gone without a win from their 15 World Cup games (in both men's and women's tournaments) which is the longest total run of any country without a win in FIFA's world competitions.
This start would be a good motive for the Co-hosts to pass the group stage, and enhance their historic run at the tournament.
