New Statue Inaugurated in Lebanon to Commemorate Beirut Explosion

A new statue was inaugurated on Wednesday next to Beirut's port in Lebanon to commemorate the deadly explosion of the country's main trade port.

The new statue was erected in the afflicted Beirut’s main port, Lebanon on Jul. 28 in order to mark the incident of the Beirut explosion.

A renowned Lebanese artist Nadim Karim has decided to use some of what he found from the debris of the afflicted region to create a statue that could inspire his people to unite and rebuild.

It's worth mentioning that the massive explosion ripped through central Beirut on August 5, 2020, killing dozens of Lebanese, injuring thousands, and blowing out windows in buildings across the coastal city.

Moreover, the blast near Beirut's port caused a huge mushroom cloud-shaped shockwave, flipping cars and damaging distant buildings.

It also caused a huge amount of loss of resources that could have been used to improve the living standards of this afflicted nation.
