Number of people who are refusing to buy vegetables and fruits packaged with plastic is increasing. This move aims to preserve the environment clean.

The move made the merchants in Germany to seek creating another type of packaging, not only preserving the environment, but also aperitif. So what is?

The retail trade in Germany is facing a problem due to the increasing number of customers who refuse to buy vegetables and fruits wrapped in plastic wrap. The wrap is necessary to protect these foods from spoiling in a short time, making them quickly not suitable for sale.

Therefore, the most famous German shops are currently testing new technologies to keep products longer without resorting to the use of industrial packaging. The experts seek to achieve this with a thin edible layer, which is added to the peel of the fruit.

A few weeks ago, the largest food commodity chain in Germany started selling avocado fruits in some of its branches after wrapping the fruit with that crust to slow down the water leakage of avocado and leaking oxygen to it, which are two main reasons why the fruit is spoiled.

This layer, which is tasteless and odorless and can be eaten with no problems, helps the delicate fruits stay fresh for a period of time three times longer.

The American Applied Science Inc, the developer of this protective cover for fruits said that it was made using plant materials found in the skin of different types of fruits and vegetables, seeds of some fruits and their fibers.

“After the avocado, orange and mandarin were wrapped in the same layer, they got preserved longer for the merchants,” the company said.
