Management of the New Capital (NC) has revealed that experts are about to plant the first vertical forest in Africa in the city. The ambitious project will set out exactly the next year.

It will take two years only to be completed

Stefano Boeri, an  Italian architect, is planning to build three residential buildings in the form of a cube.

The three buildings form together a vertical forest in the would-be New Capital of Egypt, which will be the first city in Africa to host «vertical forest». Each of the three buildings consists of 7 floors and is up to 30 meters high.

The Italian architect estimates that the project will include 350 trees and 14,000 plants of about 100 different spices.

NC official page Facebook, platform of social media, pointed out that the Vertical Forest is a “project for the environmental sustainability of contemporary cities. The project is designed to promote principle of coexistence between urban architecture and nature.

Each building is designed to host either two trees, 8 plants or  40 trees.

Those trees give more beauty to buildings but  plants are planned to provide shade for apartments and psychological benefits to residents.

Although the project is limited, it is good news for Egypt, which is struggling for environmental issues.

One of the three buildings will be designated as a hotel and all will be energy self-sufficient.

The plan will also include shops and restaurants in the  central part of  NC.

Each apartment has its own private balcony and a range of plants   suit the local climate.

Plants will be cultivated at different heights and they are blooming at different times throughout the year.

The plants at each level provide natural shade and will improve the quality of ambient air by absorbing an estimated 7 tons of carbon dioxide and producing 8 tons of oxygen per year.
