On Tuesday, Bayern Munich star Manuel Neuer received his first-ever football career red card during Bayer Munich's shocking DFB Pokal.
Bayern Munich lost to title holders Bayer Leverkusen, as the Bavarians were seeking revenge from Xabi Alonso and his team who captured their first-ever Bundesliga title by breaking the domination of the Bavarians.
Despite the determination of Vincent Kompany's side, Neuer was shown a straight red card to leave a 10-man Bayern Munich in minute 17.
In minute 69, Nathan Tella scored the winner for Bayer Leverkusen.
After the game, Neuer said: "The red card decided the game. It's painful for us and I'm sorry. I apologized to the team. In that situation, I was hoping it might be offside. I can't change it anymore. It was a mistake and I have to accept that. I don't have a choice. Obviously, it wasn't easy to keep playing afterwards but we did a very good job as a team. We invested a great deal and tried everything. You really can't blame us as a team."
