The Netherlands announced plans to send Ukraine transformers, cables, and switching components to repair critical energy infrastructure in order to face the winter season.

"The Netherlands will support Ukraine this winter with materials to repair critical energy infrastructure, in particular, by supplying, among other things, transformers, switching components, and cables necessary for the restoration of the power grid," reads the statement by the Dutch government.

“This Dutch contribution is part of EUR 180 million that the government has allocated to help Ukraine survive the winter, of which EUR 18 million is intended for the repair of critical infrastructure.”

Liesje Schreinemacher, Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, stated that the Ukrainians are having an extremely difficult winter, as many of them live without heat and electricity.

“By supplying transformers, cables, and other items, we help alleviate this suffering. We have been standing with Ukraine since the beginning of the war. We will continue doing it," Schreinemacher affirmed.

Last April, the Dutch press agency ANP reported that the Netherlands will send a forensic team from the national military police to Ukraine to help investigate possible war crimes.

The military team would leave for Ukraine to help the International Criminal Court (ICC) gather evidence at sites where war crimes may have been committed, ANP cited sources close to the matter.

The sources noted that the Dutch government will make a final decision on the mission on Friday.
