The Netherlands sealed top spot in Group F with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Tunisia on Thursday, while the North African side exited the FIFA World Cup 2026 without a point after suffering a third consecutive defeat.
The Dutch made a blistering start, taking the lead after just two minutes when Tunisia midfielder Ellyes Skhiri accidentally turned the ball into his own net.
Brian Brobbey doubled the advantage five minutes later, giving the Netherlands complete control before halftime.
Tunisia showed signs of life early in the second half as Hazem Mastouri scored the country's first and only goal of the tournament in the 54th minute.
However, the comeback hopes were short-lived, with Jan Paul van Hecke restoring the two-goal cushion in the 62nd minute to secure a convincing Dutch victory.
The result saw the Netherlands finish atop the group with seven points to advance to the Round of 32, while Japan also progressed after drawing with Sweden.
Tunisia ended its campaign at the bottom of the standings without a single point, conceding 12 goals in three matches in one of its toughest World Cup appearances.
