Netflix has revealed the first full-length trailer and the premiere date for the second and final season of the League of Legends series “Arcane”.
The conclusion will be divided into three acts. The first batch of episodes drops on November 9. Act Two is set for November 16, and the final act of the series will be released on November 23.
There’s also a new after-show in the works called "Afterglow".
The footage offers the most extensive look at what fans can expect when the series returns this November and introduces the first song from the new season’s soundtrack.
The song, “Paint The Town Blue,” is a collaboration with rapper, singer and songwriter Ashnikko.
While it is sad that the popular series is ending with this November’s upcoming Season 2, it will be the end final story from the animated world of Riot Games’ “League of Legends” and animation studio Fortiche.
“’Arcane ‘is just the beginning of our larger storytelling journey and partnership with the wonderful animation studio that is Fortiche,” co-creator Christian Linke said in a previous statement. “From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of ‘Arcane’ wraps up with this second season. But ‘Arcane’ is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra.”
Since it debuted on the giant streamer in November 2021, the series has been a hit with longtime “League of Legends” video game fans and newcomers alike.
It won four Emmys, including for Outstanding Animated Program in 2022, and has received praise for its animation, soundtrack and complex story.
“Arcane” stars Hailee Steinfeld and Ella Purnell as sisters Vi and Jinx, two powerful characters from the “League of Legends” video games. The siblings are forced apart and later turn into rivals as their fantastical, steampunk city Piltover goes to war with its seedy, criminal underground called Zaun.
In the Season 1 finale, Jinx launches an attack on the Piltover council, which “sets the stage for a dire escalation of the conflict between Piltover and Zaun,” the logline for Season 2 reads.
In the final chapter, Jinx’s attack on the Council sets the stage for a dire escalation of the conflict between Piltover and Zaun.
Season 2 voice cast includes Hailee Steinfeld (Vi), Ella Purnell (Jinx), Katie Leung (Caitlyn), Reed Shannon (Ekko), Amirah Vann (Sevika), Mick Wingert (Heimerdinger), Ellen Thomas (Ambessa), and Brett Tucker (Singed) among others to be announced. Arcane is animated by Fortiche Production.
“Arcane” is created by Linke and Alex Yee, with executive producers including Linke, Marc Merrill, and Brandon Beck.
