NATO's Defense Ministers Discuss Military Plan to Confront Coronavirus

Defense Minister of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) held a meeting via the technique of the video conference to discuss setting a joint military plan to confront the Coronavirus.

Europe, United States of America and Turkey are suffering now from higher rates of the infection with the Coronavirus. They became the epicenter of the disease.

Jens Stoltenberg, General Secretary of the NATO, stated that the armies of the state-members are ready to combating despite the spreading of the deadly virus across North America and Europe.

He added that population of the members exceed one billion people and defend them is the first priority to the commandment of the organization.

On the other hand, Foreign Ministers of the NATO held a conference on 1st April to consult on how their countries deal with Coronvirus.

The World Health Organization (WHO) renamed the virus on March 10 as COVID-19 and ranked it a pandemic threatens all parts of the globe. The organisation announced the COVID-19 hit 213 countries across the planet.

Turkish Ministry of Defense has declared that Chief Defense Hulusi Akar took part in the meeting of the NATO's Defense Ministers.

The ministers met over the video conference instead of heading for the Belgian capital.

Turkish Defense Ministry declared that its minister briefed his European colleagues on the strict measurement taken by Ankara to handle the crisis of t he deadly virus. Turkey has sent home-made health aids to neighboring and friendly countries to help them cope with the pandemic.

The NATO's ministers discussed suitable measurements to prevent the virus from turning into a security challenge. They also debated more measurements in the medium and long rage to confront the disease.

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO, expressed his hope that the USA will continue funding the organization despite the criticism of US President Donald Trump against the organization over its handling with the COVID-19.

On the other hand, Margaret Harris, spokeswoman for the WHO, added the complicated risks that threaten China now linked to the coming cases who have landed there.

Furthermore, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) publishes daily updates of confirmed deaths due to COVID-19. We rely on this data as explained above.

The European Centre said: "In an ongoing outbreak the final outcomes death or recovery for all cases is not yet known. The time from symptom onset to death ranges from 2 to 8 weeks for COVID-19. This means that some people who are currently infected with COVID-19 will die at a later date."
