NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has been the biggest threat to European security in decades.

The Secretary-General of NATO added that Russia and China do not accept the international system based on principles and rules.

The NATO Secretary General noted that the Madrid summit will focus on strengthening the alliance’s defense and military role.

The International Energy Agency warned of a “Russian move” that would tip the scales in Europe and might affect the course of the Russian-Ukrainian war, adding that Europe needs to prepare now, according to “Reuters”.

In a statement sent to Reuters, Fatih Birol added: “Considering this recent behavior, I wouldn’t rule out Russia continuing to find different issues here and there and continuing to find excuses to further reduce gas deliveries to Europe and maybe even cut it off completely.”

“This is why Europe needs contingency plans,” he added.

Last week, the Russian Gazprom announced that it would reduce gas supplies to Germany and other European countries through the pipeline due to the delay in reforms, while the German government described the decision as “political.”

Russian gas supplies to Europe declined through the “Nordstream 1” gas pipeline after a decision by Moscow, which some considered an “economic attack” on Europe.
