These days we are celebrating  the 70th anniversary of the launch of "Al-Akhbar" Newspaper',  70 years, during which the newspaper presented generations of journalists and a pure, young and bold Egyptian press that attracted the reader. Al-Akhbar newspaper was the school of news, journalism and social investigation, It was the first paper to Egyptianize the press and make it a property of the Egyptians.. It has a different style and a special taste among the people, making it to be the press of millions.

I think that I was one of the luckiest, because I dealt directly with the giants of the press who led public opinion from this ancient organization.

I remember my first item in the eighties, I was surprised by a phone call from Mustafa Amin congratulating me.. He encouraged me a lot.

During my college years, I dealt with great writer Galal Al-Hamamsi, who assigned us to hold an interview with an important figure.. So I went directly to the house of leader Anwar Sadat, and when I felt shy to meet the president in the lecture, he said that the journalist should not be shy and bravely enter the official’s door to express the opinion of the people.

Among my professors were Jalal Dowidar, Ahmed Al-Gendy, and Wajeeh Abu Zekry, who supported and encouraged me a lot in all my writings and thanks to them, I got my first award from the well known journalist Mustafa Amin- the Mustafa and Ali Amin award in 1994 for a campaign I published about the dangers of the ring road on the pyramids plateau.

Then my professor, Dowidar, nominated me for a prize from UNESCO, which I won for my campaign about the danger of giant pipelines at the 6th of October City passing through the pyramids plateau. I was the first to receive an international award in journalism at the Akhbar Al-Youm Foundation. When I received the award, the great professor Ibrahim Saada honored me and gave me the Shield of Akhbar Al Youm.

Throughout my career in Al-Akbar, I dealt with the giants of the press, I learned a lot from them, and I succeeded in many campaigns thanks to them and thanks to their encouragement, thoughts and guidance, which are still my steer in my work and my responsibilities.

May God have mercy on the souls of my distinguished professors and their students, including the talented Yasser Rizk, God bless their current grandchildren with talent and dedication to work, so that Akhbar Al Youm will remain the pioneer paper, led by Ahmed Jalal and Khaled Miry.

My dear and my beloved, Akhbar Al Youm, Happy returns.
