Marcelinho Huertas of finalists Lenovo Tenerife was named Basketball Champions League 2023-24 Season MVP, during the official awards ceremony in Belgrade that unveiled the best of the best in the eighth season of the competition.
Peristeri bwin head coach Vasilis Spanoulis was voted as Coach of the Season, a phenomenal achievement in what is only the second season since he ended his legendary playing career and moved to the sidelines. Tidjane Salaun of Cholet Basket was named Young Player of the Season while Howard Sant-Roos of UCAM Murcia picked up the Defensive Player of the Season award.
Meanwhile the 2023-24 Star Lineup and Star Lineup Second Team feature several players from the four contenders that reached the Final Four in Belgrade. Star Lineup
• Marcelinho Huertas (Lenovo Tenerife)
• Joe Ragland (Peristeri bwin)
• Kendrick Perry (Unicaja)
• David Kravish (Unicaja)
• Austin Wiley (Tofas Bursa)
Star Lineup Second Team
• Hunter Hale (Promitheas Patras)
• Dylan Ennis (UCAM Murcia)
• Levi Randolph (Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem)
• Dylan Osetkowski (Unicaja)
• Vernon Carey Jr. (Pinar Karsiyaka)
The winners of the awards in each of the individual categories, as well as the 10 players making up the Star Lineup and the Star Lineup Second Team, were selected by four constituencies: the fans, an expert media panel that covered the BCL this season around Europe, the head coaches and the captains of the teams that made it to the Round of 16.
Huertas, who is having the highest-scoring season of his entire career in European competitions as he is about to turn 41 years old, received the most votes for MVP not only from the media contingent, but perhaps even more importantly from both the coaches and his peers.
