Patrice Motsepe, president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), announced the appointment of Samson Adamu, head of competitions, as acting secretary general following the resignation of Congolese official Veron Mosengo-Omba.
During a press conference held today, Sunday, in Cairo, Motsepe confirmed that the federation is moving towards implementing radical changes to the laws governing matches and refereeing methods, emphasizing the need to move beyond what happened in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
He explained that the events that occurred during the final match between Senegal and Morocco were a turning point and contributed to accelerating decisive decisions to restructure African football. He stated, "We must forget what happened and move forward towards developing the game."
The CAF president added that the final decision regarding the tournament final crisis now rests with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, confirming that the federation has no further comment until the official ruling is issued.
