Nantes will host Nice at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday afternoon in a crucial Ligue 1 clash, as both sides look to move clear of the relegation zone in Round 19 of the French top flight.

With the match carrying added significance for Egyptian fans due to a potential head-to-head between Nantes striker Mostafa Mohamed and Nice defender Mohamed Abdelmonem.

While Mostafa Mohamed is expected to lead the line for the hosts, uncertainty surrounds Abdelmonem’s involvement.

The Nice center-back has only recently returned to full training after a lengthy absence of nearly nine months caused by injury, and a late decision will be made regarding his match readiness.

Abdelmonem has been sidelined since late April, undergoing an extended recovery and rehabilitation process that is now nearing completion, paving the way for a gradual return to competitive action.

Nantes enter the fixture sitting 16th in the Ligue 1 standings with 14 points, a precarious position that leaves them under pressure to secure a vital home victory.

Recent results have been disappointing, and the team will once again rely heavily on Mostafa Mohamed’s attacking threat to rediscover their winning form in front of their supporters.

Nice, meanwhile, occupy 15th place with 18 points, holding a four-point advantage over Nantes.

The visitors are aiming to capitalize on their relative squad stability and leave La Beaujoire with a positive result that would provide breathing space in the lower half of the table.

With survival at stake and national pride adding extra intrigue, the encounter promises to be a tense and closely contested affair in western France.
