Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane said on Saturday that if he had Senegalese star Sadio Mane and the iconic Egyptian player Mohamed Salah, the Red Devils could have defeated Bayern Munich.

Al Ahly began their campaign in the FIFA Club World Cup with a 1-0 victory over local champions Al Duhail and then lost 2-0 to Germany's European champions Bayern Munich, who claimed the title by defeting Mexico's UANL Tigres.

"It's a World Cup, so if you come third so I think Africa should not be disgraced about us becoming third. At least we got a medal." Mosimane said after the win," the South African head coach said in In statements to BBC.

"We defeated the Conmebol (South American) champions also it's a milestone and we won two out of three games and the game we didn't win, I mean, very difficult to win that match."

"That one we lost. But we are proud of the team. We are proud of the boys," the south African manager explained.

"We believe we could have won the World Cup, but let's talk about the reality. In reality it is very difficult to win the World Cup," he said.

"You know, we played a team that's very strong Bayern (Munich)... Maybe if I had Sadio Mane the Senegalese and Mohamed Salah from Egypt, maybe we could have talked a different talk when we played Bayern (Munich)," Mosimane noted.

"So let's be honest and accept what we are and where we are and a little bit of humility and respect for football."
