On Thursday, it was reported that Moroccan star Hakim Ziyech signed with Wydad Casablanca on a contract running until 2027.

The former captain of the Atlas Lions had been a free agent in recent months, following the end of his stint with Al-Duhail SC in Qatar.

The 32-year-old winger is now looking to regain his top form, hoping for a recall to the Morocco national team.

According to the Moroccan newspaper "Al-Mountakhab," veteran player Nordin Amrabat played a key role in convincing Ziyech to join Wydad.

Amrabat reportedly led the negotiations that persuaded Ziyech to sign for the Moroccan giants in a free transfer.

Amrabat joined Wydad Casablanca during the last summer transfer window and featured for the club in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Ziyech is getting ready to target three domestic and continental trophies with Wydad: the Moroccan League, the Moroccan Cup, and the CAF Confederation Cup.

On the international stage, Ziyech could feature in three major tournaments with Morocco: the 2025 Arab Cup, the 2025–2026 Africa Cup of Nations, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
