Morocco to Continue Securing Guerguerat Passage

The King of Morocco stressed his intension to facilitate the movement through the Guerguerat passage.

This came in a phone call between the King Mohammed VI, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who discussed the latest developments in the Moroccan desert issue, especially the situation at the Guerguerat passage.

According to a statement by the Moroccan Royal Court, King Mohammed VI, stressed that after all attempts by the Secretary-General of the UN failed, the Kingdom assumed its responsibility within the framework of its legal right.

The statement pointed out that it is not the first time that the Polisario to engaged in such unacceptable acts.

The statement added, "The Kingdom of Morocco finally solved the problem and restored the flow of movement at the passage linking the southern regions of Morocco and the southern neighbor, Mauritania."

The Moroccan monarch reaffirmed to the Secretary-General of the UN that Morocco is firmly attached to the cease-fire, stressing that the Kingdom will respond, with the utmost firmness, and within the framework of legitimate defense, to any threat to its security and the reassurance of its citizens.

On the other hand, King Mohammed VI assured the Secretary-General that Morocco will continue to support the political process, and this should be resumed on clear grounds and criteria, and the involvement of the real parties in this regional conflict to reach a realistic and achievable solution.
