Morocco clinched the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) title after defeating Madagascar 3-2 in a thrilling final at Moi International Stadium in Nairobi on Saturday evening.
Felicité Manohantsa opened the scoring for Madagascar just nine minutes into the match, before Youssef Mehri equalized for the Atlas Lions in the 27th minute.
Osama Malloui then gave Morocco the lead in the 44th minute.
In the second half, Toky Rakotondraibe pulled Madagascar level again in the 68th minute, but Malloui struck once more in the 80th minute to seal Morocco’s third CHAN crown.
The Atlas Lions reached the final after a dramatic semifinal against Senegal in Kampala, where the game ended 1-1 after extra time.
Joseph Layeus Samb gave Senegal an early lead in the 16th minute, but Bougrine equalized shortly after.
Morocco then prevailed 5-3 on penalties to secure their spot in the final.
Madagascar, meanwhile, made history by reaching the CHAN final for the first time ever, edging Sudan 1-0 after extra time in Dar es Salaam.
