Morocco has called for an emergency meeting of the Arab League's foreign ministers to consult and coordinate regarding the deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip.

According to the Moroccan Arab News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad stated, "With instructions from King Mohammed VI, the current chair of the Arab League's ministerial council, Morocco has called for an emergency meeting of the council at the level of Arab foreign ministers."

In a statement, the ministry explained that the purpose of the meeting is to "consult and coordinate regarding the deterioration of the situation in the Gaza Strip and the outbreak of military actions targeting civilians, as well as to explore ways to halt this dangerous escalation."

Intensive consultations are ongoing to convene the meeting later this week at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.

The clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian militants have continued since the start of the "Operation Al-Aqsa Storm" launched by Hamas on Saturday.

This operation includes rocket launches and armed infiltrations into Israeli territory.
