Morocco booked their place in the Round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a thrilling 4-2 victory over Haiti in the early hours of Thursday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the final round of Group C matches.
The Atlas Lions had to come from behind twice in a dramatic contest before securing the win that confirmed their progression to the knockout stage.
Haiti made the brighter start and took an early lead in the 10th minute when Yassine Bounou accidentally turned the ball into his own net.
Morocco responded late in the first half through Achraf Hakimi, who equalised in the 39th minute, but Haiti regained the lead just four minutes later thanks to Wilson Isidor.
Morocco hit back again before the break, with Ismael Saibari finding the net in first-half stoppage time to make it 2-2 and set up a tense second half.
After the interval, Morocco continued to push forward in search of the winning goal and were finally rewarded in the 78th minute when Soufiane Rahimi put them ahead for the first time in the match.
Jassim Yassine then added a fourth goal in the 89th minute to seal the victory and confirm Morocco’s qualification for the Round of 32.
Brazil finished top of Group C with 7 points, ahead of Morocco on goal difference, with both teams advancing to the knockout stage. Scotland ended third with 3 points, while Haiti finished bottom of the group without a point.
