WWE’s road to WrestleMania officially began in historic fashion on Saturday night as the 39th annual Royal Rumble delivered high drama, shocking moments, and major career-defining outcomes.

Held for the first time outside North America, the 2026 Royal Rumble marked WWE’s debut of the iconic event in Saudi Arabia, underscoring the company’s expanding global footprint.

The men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches once again carried enormous stakes, with the winners earning guaranteed world championship opportunities of their choosing at WrestleMania.

By night’s end, Roman Reigns and Liv Morgan emerged victorious, capping off a Premium Live Event filled with surprises and emotional turning points.

Liv Morgan secured the biggest win of her career by outlasting 29 other competitors to win the Women’s Royal Rumble Match.

Entering at No. 14, Morgan survived a star-studded field that included Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Rhea Ripley, Bayley, and multiple surprise appearances such as Nikki Bella and Brie Bella.

Morgan’s victory positions her for a championship showdown at WrestleMania, solidifying her rise as one of WWE’s top female stars.

In the Men’s Royal Rumble Match, Roman Reigns entered at No. 26 and powered through the final stretch to secure the win, reaffirming his dominance on WWE’s biggest stages.

The match featured a mix of established main-event talent and notable debuts, including Oba Femi, who entered at No. 1, and Royce Keys, formerly known as Powerhouse Hobbs.

The closing moments saw Reigns eliminate Gunther to punch his ticket to WrestleMania, where he will once again compete for a world championship.

One of the night’s most emotional moments came earlier on the card when Gunther defeated AJ Styles in a career-threatening match.

Under the stipulation, Styles was required to retire if he lost. After a hard-fought contest, Gunther secured the victory with a sleeper hold, bringing Styles’ storied WWE career to an abrupt and somber conclusion.

Elsewhere, Drew McIntyre successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Championship against Sami Zayn, maintaining his grip on the title heading into WrestleMania season.

The event also introduced new intrigue, as Bron Breakker was attacked backstage by an unidentified masked assailant before the Royal Rumble match.

The assault left Breakker vulnerable and led to his early elimination, with the attacker’s identity remaining unknown.
