The Supreme Council of Universities held its monthly meeting chaired by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, on Saturday morning.

The meeting was attended by Tarek Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, Mohamed Latif, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities, heads of universities, and leaders of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

At the beginning of the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar pointed out that the Cabinet agreed to contract with the Telecom Egypt Company to provide the required services to develop the information infrastructure in government universities to begin generalizing the use of computer-based tests.

This system will be applied to all university students in all disciplines in Egyptian universities for medical sector students as a first stage.

He added: “The cabinet agreed to sign a contract with the Telecom Egypt Company (WE) to provide the services required to develop the information infrastructure and raise Internet speeds in Egyptian government universities.

The minister stressed the need for discipline in the educational process, regularity in the presence of faculty members and adherence to academic schedules, according to the approved time map for the academic year of the Supreme Council of Universities.

He pointed out that this will help the government universities to become smart universities. It came as implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to officials to generalize the use of computer-based tests for all university students in all disciplines.
