Ghana’s national football team has officially booked its place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over the Comoros on Sunday evening at the Accra Sports Stadium, in the final round of Group 9 qualifiers.

Led by coach Otto Addo, the Black Stars entered the match needing just one point to guarantee qualification for the fifth time in their history.

However, they claimed all three points with a determined performance, confirming their spot at the upcoming World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The decisive goal was scored by Tottenham Hotspur star Mohammed Kudus, who found the net after receiving a precise cross from Thomas Partey.

At the same time, Mali defeated Madagascar 4-1 in the other group fixture.

With this result, Ghana topped Group 9 with 25 points, six points ahead of second-placed Madagascar, who finished with 19 points.

Mali came third with 18 points, while the Comoros ranked fourth with 15 points, followed by the Central African Republic with 8 points and Chad at the bottom with just 1 point.
