Egyptian champion Mohamed Essam succeeded in qualifying for the preliminary round of 64 of the Fencing World Cup.
The tournament started today and will continue until February 26 at the club's club in the New Administrative Capital.
Essam beat Singapore's Lionel Wei 15-7 to advance to the preliminary round of 64 and face the winner of South Korean champions Myeong-cheol and Japanese champion Taro Nakamura.
Essam also managed to win two matches in the group stage, beating Italian champions Damiano Rosatli and Hong Kong champions Songo Schun
