OGC Nice has confirmed that Egyptian international defender Mohamed Abdelmonem has suffered a new injury in the inner thigh muscles, although the club indicated that the issue is not serious and that the player is expected to return to action soon.
Sports critic Reham Hamdy wrote on her Facebook account that the Nice defender sustained a minor muscle injury but should rejoin the team in the near future.
Abdelmonem had recently recovered from a long-term injury after suffering a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in April last year.
The injury occurred during a match against Paris Saint‑Germain on April 25, 2025.
After completing his rehabilitation, the Egyptian defender returned to action in a friendly match for Nice against RC Grasse, a club competing in the French lower divisions.
Despite his recovery, Abdelmonem is still waiting to make his official debut in the Ligue 1 after being sidelined for nearly 11 months due to the serious knee injury.
The latest muscle issue is considered minor, and the club’s medical staff expects the player to regain full fitness soon as he prepares to finally return to competitive league action.
