AC Milan secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Bologna on Sunday evening at the iconic San Siro Stadium, in a match that marked the third round of the 2025–26 Serie A season.
The decisive moment came from Croatian veteran Luka Modrić, who netted his first-ever goal for the Rossoneri to hand his team all three points.
With this result, Milan climbed to fifth place in the league table with six points, earned from two wins and one defeat.
The Rossoneri have scored four goals and conceded two across their opening fixtures. Bologna, meanwhile, sit in 13th place with three points, having won one game and lost two, scoring just once while conceding twice.
Milan’s campaign began with disappointment, as they suffered a shock defeat to newly promoted Cremonese.
However, the team bounced back in the second round with a 2-0 win, easing the tension among fans before Sunday’s hard-fought victory.
This season marks a new era for Milan under coach Massimiliano Allegri, who was brought in to restore the club’s glory after a disastrous previous campaign.
Last year, Milan finished eighth in Serie A, sacked two managers, missed out on European competition, and fell to Bologna in the Coppa Italia final.
The Rossoneri faithful now hope Allegri can bring Milan back into contention for domestic trophies and European qualification.
