Mobile Phones Subscribers Rise Month-on-Month in March

The number of mobile phone subscribers rose during the last March to 93.42 million, up 0.42 % as month-to-month increase compared to 93.04 million in February, Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology reported.

This increase came after a significant decline during the previous months.

Meanwhile, the mobile phone subscribers` number declined year-over-year by 5.76% to be 93.42 million compared to 99.13 million in 2018.

Internet users:

The report pointed out that the number of mobile internet users increased to 35.44 million at the end of March, up 9.08% month-on-month and 12.62% year-over-year.

For DSL Internet users, the number increased by 24.2% year-over-year to 6.82 million in March 2019 compared to 6.74 million in February 2019, an increase of 23.31% compared to 5.53 million in March 2018, according to the report. 

Across the world, the internet continues to transform how people connect with others, organize the flow of things, and share information. With its growing influence on inpidual consumers and large economies alike, it has become a crucial part of our day-to-day lives.

In 2017, there was an estimated 3.9 billion Internet users worldwide. This accounts for more than half of the global population, with China having the biggest online population at 829 million users, followed by India at 560 million and the United States at 293 million.

Notwithstanding East Asia’s 1 billion internet users, English is the most popular language online, representing 25.2 percent of global internet users. Chinese ranked second with a 19.3 percent share, followed by Spanish at 7.9 percent.
