Moamen Mohamed, a member of the national karate team, won the silver medal at the US Open Karate Championship held in Las Vegas.

He won the silver medal and was the runner-up after losing in the final match 2-1 to the third-ranked world champion in the -75 kg weight category from the United States.

Mohamed started the championship by defeating the Mexican champion 6-0, then won over the Canadian player 5-0 and the American player 7-0.

He then achieved an exciting victory against the Brazilian player Vinicius Figueira, who won the silver medal in the 2018 world championship, 3-1 before losing in the final to American karateka Thomas Scott, who is the third-ranked player in the -75 kg category, 2-1 according to the International Karate Federation ranking.

Mohamed participated in the championship in the open-weight category, which allows all weight categories to compete in one competition, making it difficult, especially when there is a significant difference in weight between the players.
