Mahrez smashed a number of records during 2019 as he led his national team to lift the Africa Cup of Nations title.

It is noteworthy that CAF officials invited some of the Egyptian League's clubs presidents, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, head of Al-Ahly Club and head of Al-Jazira Club Omar Jazzarin, in addition to Hassan Shehata, former coach of the Egyptian team, and Shawky Gharib, coach of the Egyptian Olympic team, to attend the CAF ceremony.
