Egyptian star Mo Salah mourned, on Friday, the Brazilian soccer legend Pele, who passed away at the age of 82.

Through his Instagram account, he shared a photo of the legend Pele, and captioned: “Farewell to a legend of football.”

World leaders paid touching tributes to Pelé, a three-time World Cup winner and one of the greatest soccer players in history, who died on Thursday after a battle with cancer.

U.S. President Joe Biden stated that Pelé’s growth from humble beginnings to soccer legend is “a story of what is possible.”

Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama hailed Pelé’s journey, affirming that he was one of the greatest to ever play “the beautiful game.”

Obama added that the King understood the power of sports to bring people together.

On his part, French President Emanuel Macron wrote on Instagram, "The game. The king. Eternity."

Brazil declared three days of mourning Thursday following the death of the legendary player.

"Official mourning is declared throughout the country, for a period of three days, counted from the date of publication of this Decree, as a sign of sorrow for the death of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé, a former football player," according to a decree signed by outgoing President Jair Bolsonaro.

Bolsonaro wrote on Twitter that Pelé "through football, took the name of Brazil to the world. He turned football into art and joy. May God comfort your family and welcome you into his infinite mercy."

President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva described himself as one of the privileged Brazilians who were able to experience the "show" Pelé conducted.

"When he got the ball he always did something special, which often ended up in a goal," Lula wrote on Twitter. "Few Brazilians took the name of our country as far as he did," he said, noting how people around the globe learned to say "the magic word: " Pelé."
