On Thursday, French media outlets reported that Major League Soccer (MLS) is supporting the participation of MLS side Los Angeles FC to participate in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after FIFA excluded Mexico's Leon.
In an official statement, FIFA informed both Pachuca and León that only one of the two clubs would be allowed to participate in the tournament.
According to L'Équipe, MLS officials believe that Los Angeles FC deserve to take León’s spot in the Club World Cup, given that they were the runners-up in the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League, where they lost the final to León.
The report also highlighted that Los Angeles FC boast a squad filled with star players, including former Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and former AC Milan and Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.
