yesterday, Tuesday, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, met with Maj. Gen. Atef Miftah, General Supervisor of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the Surrounding Region Project, Dr. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary- General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Dr. Tayyeb Abbas, Assistant Minister for rchaeological Affairs at the GEM rand , and some of senior officials of the GEM.
The minister other officials met to follow up developments in it in preparation for the opening of the GEM in 2021.
The meeting dealt with the latest findings of the various works in the museum. Where the first stage of the pre-set plan for transporting heavy artifacts was completed, and the installation of 107 showcases for pieces of the treasures of the young king Tutankhamun was completed.
The meeting also discussed and reviewed the museum's catalog, which the scientific material of it was given by archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, the former Minister of Antiquities, in preparation for its publication in the coming period.
The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities also discussed the latest developments in the museum display and the developments of the process of offering and operating services in the Grand Egyptian Museum.
