Millions of Ukrainians were left without electricity on Monday after large-scale power outages hit several regions across the country, following recent Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure over the weekend.

Ukraine’s national energy company, Ukrenergo, announced scheduled power cuts across multiple areas as part of emergency measures to stabilize the grid. The outages come after Russian forces targeted key power and heating facilities just weeks before the onset of winter, intensifying pressure on Ukraine’s already strained energy network.

According to Ukrainian authorities, repair teams, utility workers, and local officials are working around the clock to restore power supplies and repair damaged systems. Despite the ongoing challenges, thousands of engineers and technicians are engaged in efforts to stabilize the energy system and minimize the impact on households and critical services.

In Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, metro services resumed on Monday morning after being suspended for two days due to the blackout.

The latest wave of strikes highlights the growing vulnerability of Ukraine’s power infrastructure as winter approaches and underscores the persistent humanitarian and logistical challenges facing the country amid ongoing conflict.
