A South Korean military drone collided with a stationary helicopter at an airport on Monday, causing a fire that was quickly extinguished without any reported injuries, according to the country's Ministry of Defense.
The unmanned aerial vehicle involved in the incident was identified as a large reconnaissance drone, as reported by Yonhap News Agency.
The collision occurred in Yangju, located north of Seoul. Military officials confirmed that no GPS signal interference was detected at the time of the accident.
This incident comes just months after a similar drone of the same model crashed in the same area in November last year.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident and assess potential security risks related to drone operations in the region.
