Éder Militão has sparked fresh concern within Real Madrid and the Brazil national team camp after sustaining an injury during his side’s match against Deportivo Alavés in La Liga, just two months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Brazilian defender was forced off the pitch in the first half after experiencing pain in the back of his left thigh, raising immediate concerns among both club and national team staff, especially given his recurring injury issues this season.
According to ESPN, the initial diagnosis points to a left hamstring problem.
Spanish media reports also suggested the issue could be muscle tightness, with early indications that the injury may not be serious, though it still requires careful evaluation.
Meanwhile, Marca reported that Militão felt discomfort in his hamstring before undergoing medical checks in the dressing room.
Early assessments described the issue as minor or a “false alarm,” although concerns remain due to his history of repeated injuries.
The defender has endured a difficult season physically, with this marking his fourth injury.
He has already missed 25 matches, totaling 137 days on the sidelines, raising doubts about his readiness for the crucial period ahead.
Militão had also suffered a muscle injury last December that kept him out for nearly three months before returning to action.
These developments place the Brazil national team in a delicate position ahead of naming their final squad in May, under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti, who is awaiting the results of further medical tests to determine the player’s availability.
Militão has made 22 appearances for Real Madrid this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist.
