Early Monday, Mexico achieved a historic milestone by winning the CONCACAF Nations League title for the first time in their history, after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Panama in the final.
Veteran star Raúl Jiménez was the hero of the night, scoring both of Mexico’s goals to lead his team to glory.
"El Tri" started the match strongly, and Jiménez managed to find the net early in the 8th minute, giving his team the lead.
However, the Panamanian team did not give up, as Coko Carasquilla managed to equalize before the end of the first half, bringing excitement back into the match.
In the second half, the competition remained intense, with Panama defending bravely against repeated Mexican attacks.
But the final minutes brought real drama when the referee awarded a penalty to Mexico after a handball by defender José Córdoba.
Jiménez stepped up to take the penalty and successfully converted it, adding his second goal of the match and securing the title for his country.
